Producer.ai Changes Name to ‘Google Flow Music’

Producer.ai, one of the current top-tier AI music production tools on the market, announced this week that it is rebranding as Google Flow Music. The announcement came via Discord from the team, marking the end of the Producer era and the full embodiment of Google’s recent purchase of the AI music tool.

Riffusion launched as an open-source hobby project in December 2022, went viral, raised $4 million in seed funding by October 2023, and rebranded as Producer.ai in July 2025. Less than a year later, Google acquired the company and folded the entire team into Google Labs and DeepMind — and now, in April 2026, it has a third name.

The team framed it as continuity: same mission, same people, next chapter.

To mark the occasion, they shipped new Replace & Extend capabilities designed to give users more granular control over generated tracks. You can now direct the Producer agent to replace specific sections or extend existing ones using natural language prompts or by highlighting parts of the track directly. The pitch: extend a lo-fi piano intro into a dubstep drop, run five variations of a guitar solo until one sticks, or replace multiple choruses simultaneously in a single pass. It's a meaningful step toward the tool feeling more like an instrument, with iteration and intention built into the same workflow.
