Amanda Magellan Wins SSC8

Amanda Magellan was announced the winner of SSC8 on Saturday, May 9, concluding an 8-week competition cycle that featured nearly 500 songs representing more than 50 countries.

Magellan, who represented Brazil, was the winner with her song, “Starfall,” a cinematic, emotionally charged anthem about love that lingers long after loss, blending aching vulnerability with cosmic imagery and soaring orchestral EDM energy. Through powerful vocals and Latin refrains about memory, time, and fading light, the song turns heartbreak into something mythic — a love story dissolving across the stars while refusing to fully disappear.

Her win comes in her second season competing with SSC, and the first-place result had never entered her mind, she said.

“It’s insane,” Magellan said in the final moments of the results livestream, “I just want to congratulate everyone who was in the finals because man your songs were amazing. This result is insane to me!”

The runner up was “Fall For Me” by JP Asher who represented the United Kingdom. Her pop hit was joined in the top 3 by cinematic rock song “All My Confessions” by Belgian competitor Timotheus.

Magellan won with 455 total points, winning by a dominating 43 points. For comparison, second and third place were separated by two points.
